Taiwan Government to Accelerate Domestic 4G Deployment with NT$15 Billion Funding in 3 Years
November 18, 2013

The Executive Yuan announced that the government will establish a 3-year fund of NT$15 billion (US$508 million; US$1=NT$29.542) in total to help the deployment of 4G networks in Taiwan, as reported by the Economic Daily News on November 15. The money will come partially from the 4G license bids of NT$118.65 billion in October and partially from next year's telecommunications budget. The fund will be used to provide networks to digitally disadvantageous groups and help the development of 4G applications. In addition, the government plans to release public buildings for the establishment of 4G base stations, including post offices, fire stations, police stations, and governmental buildings.
